Seeing the necessary need for the investment after harvest such as warehouse, drying warehouse and processing equipment and for resolve the surplus of rice supply occurred previously during the harvest season, the Royal Government of Cambodia, through Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (ARDB), provided and expanded financing to support rice collection center to construct rice warehouse with capacity 200,000 tons and drying facility with capacity 3,000ton per day in Battambang province, which is the largest rice warehouse and drying facility in Cambodia. This investment program is in form of the Royal Government of Cambodia’s debt with Rice Bank PLC in the form of “Construction-Operation-Settlement” (BOP) with total value of 15 million USD. This rice warehouse and drying facility have been inaugurated in July 2018. In addition, there are rice warehouses and drying facilities been developed in another 3 targeted provinces including Kampong Thom, Preyveng, and Takeo province, in which the total rice warehouse capacity for 3 provinces at least 50,000 tons and drying facility is 1,500 tons per day, with total value of 15 million USD.
As a result, these facilities have improved rice storage and processing capacity within the region to address the rice drying facility and warehouse problem, which is limited in the region, during harvest season also to enhance the competitiveness of rice price determination based upon the capability of rice buying in large quantity and rice storage monitoring in main regions of rice production of the country.
